Design Inspiration: The Anatomy of a Hangover

The Anatomy of a Hangover

Today’s first design inspiration is The Anatomy of a Hangover – a poster that shows different part of your body and how they’re affected by alcohol and what you can do to help yourself. Did you have a hangover this morning? According to my Facebook friends, at least 25% of you were hurting this morning. It is the Monday after copious amounts of St. Patty’s day celebrations/beverages this weekend so I figured it was appropriate today.

The poster goes through the usual hangover symptoms: Headache, dehydration, nausea, and more. It then goes on describing what exactly alcohol does to your body to make it feel that way. The great part is that on the opposite side, it lists what you can eat/drink/do to help take care of those symptoms. To prevent dehydration, obviously you want to drink water. There’s a few more obvious answers, but I like that it tells you how the solutions work for the not-so-common answers. B Vitamins for example, dilate blood vessels and help take care of that pesky headache.

The design looks like it could be as old as 20 years old and straight out of one of my old biology books, but it’s hard to tell. I like the balance between problem and solution on the left and right, I think the information could’ve been presented in a little cleaner style. Typically I’m a fan of the “hair of the dog” treatment style that they mention. How about you?
