Design Inspiration: The Audi Experience

Look close, those aren’t real cars. Today’s first design inspiration is a video/documentary that I came across which talks about how a team created an iPad-controlled slot car race track heaven for Audi. What the team was able to achieve is simply amazing. You can control the speed of the car from an iPad and there’s even a little video camera behind the windshield that shows you what it’s like to be the driver. The thing that really spoke to me was the passion that the team had to not only just build this specific track, but to even start the company building tracks for cars. The owner of the company who builds these tracks (Slot Mods) got fired and wanted a place where he could be his own boss and enjoy what he did for the rest of his life. He had a passion and followed his dream. He hired people who knew what he didn’t and worked with them to build the empire that they’re creating today. This video is definitely worth watching if you have 15 minutes to spare. (via Cult of Mac)
